la 'sala del grano'The exhibition is the result of a photographic project, realized over the past two years, by Ivo Pirisi - a Sardinian photographer originally from Escolca – to document an ancient tradition that is still profoundly felt today.

The aim of the exhibition is to encourage the visitor’s participation in the celebration, involving them emotively right from the start before they experience a cognitive and rational approach.
For this reason the exhibition does not follow a didatic and evolutionary view of the celebration but rather exalts its legendary and universal components. Using visual and audio exhibits of the significant phases of the festival it aims to communicate ideas regarding some of the most important aspects of the traditional life of the village, its countryside, its economy, its history.

Also the lay out of the exhibition follows this idea, starting from the site itself which could not have been located in a better place than this ancient house which echoes with the sounds of San Simone’s celebration Inside, the positioning of the images is not random; it is the environment’s character which determines the exhibition’s progression and the organization of its sections. Each room, every corner, every window of the house has its own particular magic with which the photos of Ivo Pirisi seem to speak to you.
The same things happen with the countryside and cultivated fields around Escolca, whose view can be appreciated from the open gallery.
‘The land which brings life’ is the central and ancient theme that the feast of San Simone celebrates and to which this exhibition pays homage.
