The synergistic orchard PDFPrintE-mail

The synergistic orchardThe synergistic orchard that we have in the garden is the result of an experiment which has been carried out for more than 40 years by the Japanese Masanobu Fukuoka. The Spanish agriculture specialist Emilia Hazelip has brought some modifications due to the difference of the ground and temperature of southern Europe.

The synergistic orchard is based on a few fundamental points; one of them is that the earth is never dug, except for the preparation of the pallets. First spray some manure on the ground, then check the irrigation system and cover the orchard with straw. At the end, one can put the plants or the seeds in the earth and water them abundantly.
The biodiversity of the planted species is another important point. The simultaneous presence of tomatoes, cabbages, cucumbers, parsley and strawberries prevents the onset of parasites and insects which would be toxic for the orchard, and make the use of chemicals pointless. It is important to leave the roots inside the ground because they will act as self-fertilizers.

Our synergistic garden allows us to have biological vegetables and fruit all year round, without too much physical strain, and with more attention and respect for the environment, the land that we haven’t inherited from our ancestors but that we are borrowing from our children.

A beautiful experiment

My synergistic orchard is the result of a few encounters which happened by chance. Roberto Spanu, who‘s long been an appassionato , talked to me about it enthusiastically; When my best friends tell me about something, I always want to try.
The experiment was both fascinating and constructive. We were a group of fifteen people coming from different places but with a common love for the earth. Right from the start, there was a beautiful feeling amongst us and at the end of the third day, we all experienced inside peace and joy. We all worked together to prepare the orchard, working and planting. °At the end of the course, (three days in all) the orchard was ready. Today, after a month, we have several plants and strawberries and we can already eat the fruits.
It is possible to book a course to learn the art of realizing a synergistic orchard. At the end of the course, which lasts three days, one has learnt all the secrets and techniques which will allow him to make his own synergistic orchard. We wait for all the lovers of the earth to come for a week end and share this beautiful and peaceful experiment with friends.
